Brent D. Meyer focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, general civil litigation, bankruptcy and insolvency matters, receiverships, appellate advocacy, probate, and personal injury actions. He has extensive experience representing debtors and creditors in chapter 7, chapter 11, and chapter 13 cases and representing trustees in appellate proceedings. Prior to rejoining Meyer Law Group, Brent worked as a litigation associate at Hopkins & Carley, APC. Brent also served as a senior law clerk to the Honorable Hannah L. Blumenstiel in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California, San Francisco Division and as a law clerk to the Honorable Thomas E. Carlson in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California, San Francisco Division. During his time with the Court, Brent participated in the drafting of the Standard-Form Combined Plan and Disclosure Statement for Individual Chapter 11 Debtors and the Model Chapter 13 Plan and Distribution Order. After graduating from law school, Brent was a founding partner of Meyer Law Group, where he successfully represented clients in various appellate proceedings. While in law school, Brent served as a full-time judicial extern to the Honorable Michael S. McManus in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California, Sacramento Division. He also received the prestigious American College of Bankruptcy Award as the Distinguished Law Student in the Ninth Circuit, received the Loren S. Dahl Scholarship for Excellence in Bankruptcy Law, was selected for membership in the Roger J. Traynor Honor Society, received the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence for the highest overall grade in his Legal Research and Writing course, studied Fundamental Rights in the United States and Europe under Associate Justice Anthony M. Kennedy in Salzburg, Austria, and served as a comment writer on the Global Business & Development Law Journal. Mr. Meyer is a member of the Bench Bar Liaison Committee for the United States Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of California, Member (2014-present); Aameda County Bar Association, Bankruptcy Section, Executive Board Member (2010-2011); Bay Area Bankruptcy Forum, Member (2010-present); National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, Member (2010-present); and The NACTT Academy.
