Chief Judge, U.S. Bankruptcy Court (W.D. Mich.)
Hon. Scott W. Dales was appointed as U.S. bankruptcy judge for the Western District of Michigan in October 2007 and as chief judge in 2013. Judge Dales is a graduate of the University of Michigan and The George Washington University Law School. Judge Dales served as a law clerk for U.S. District Judge Hon. Con. G. Cholakis, Northern District of New York and for Hon. James D. Gregg, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Michigan. Following that, after a tenure with Dykema in Grand Rapids, Michigan he acted as in-house counsel to National City Corporation, its bank and nonbank subsidiaries until 2007 when he was appointed to U.S. bankruptcy for the Western District of Michigan. Judge Dales has also served as Judge and Chief Judge of the 6th Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel.
