You may have seen notices that courts across the country have received reports of suspicious emails going to attorneys and law firms purporting to be NEFs. These emails are fraudulent and did not come from the Court. Please do not click on any links or files contained within these emails.
Please note that a few courts have reported the phishing emails originate from the following email address: [email protected] (or a similar address).
**An example of the bogus email can be found by scrolling to the bottom of this article from Above the Law**
- Case information and case documentation should be accessed through official CM/ECF website only.
- Official NEF’s from the Court will not ask the recipients to reply to the email.
- Official NEF’s will never include an attachment.
- Official NEF’s will always contain a case number and a document number – among other information.
- Check the sender email address and do not download any attachments or click any links from unofficial or questionable sources.
- If you are not sure whether the email is a phishing NEF, you can log in to the court’s Electronic Case Filing System and look up associated document rather than using a link in a questionable email.
- Please check with your technical support if you have any questions.
